Film Photographer, Alex Gelehrter / Costume Designer, Nathalie Leborgne - Bogdan Dreyer’s "A Farewell to Fools" starring Gérard Depardieu and Harvey Keitel

Following an amazing experience on the set of A Farewell to Fools, filmed in the medieval city of Sighisoara, Alex Gelehrter took his time to be an observer. The figurants selected from a small village near the city, who played a decorative, almost undistinguished role in the movie, wore authentic Second World War costumes during the shoot. However, capturing their simplicity within the perfect match with their roles was an unique occasion to seize a moment in time. Their contemplative expressions tend to go deep into history and remind us that the times we live in are not but the result of the “prior”, but at the same time the human essence is itself eternal. There is an universality in every look that conveys what we may call the loop of life. The syinthesis of time.
